Puff Pastry with Cheese and Fig Jam
Good news! The third time’s the charm for this recipe. There are very few things better than melted cheese and puff pastry. This recipe is delicious and the flavor combination is absolutely divine. The fig jam adds a sweetness to the creamy melty cheese and the puff pastry is flaky and delicate.
Enjoy
I would recommend serving with a plain water cracker, fruit or a neutral bread.

Equipment
- Rolling Pin
Ingredients
- 1 -7oz. Package Chao vegan cheese Field Roast Brand
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. Fig spread (Jam) Dalmatia Fig Spread-Link @ the bottom
- 1 Package Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry
- 1 Tbsp. Vegan butter melted
Instructions
- Arrange a rack in the middle of the oven and heat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment and set aside, or bake your puff pastry in a pie plate
- Roll out the puff pastry. Dust a work surface with a small amount of flour. Unwrap the puff pastry and place it on the flour. Remove one of the sections of puff pastry (There are 3 sections cut one of the sections off). Roll puff pastry into a rough 10-inch square. No need to get out a ruler; it's fine to estimate.
- Wrap the Chao in the pastry. Place the square of Chao cheese in the middle of the pastry. Top with 2 ½ Tbs of the fig jam. Gather all of the sides together (see pictures) and cut a little off the top. Make the center into a pretty puff of dough. Brush with melted vegan butter.
- Transfer the wrapped Chao cheese to the baking sheet or pie plate.
- Cook for 30 minutes. Checking after 20 minutes to make sure it’s not getting too brown. If it's getting too brown, cover with foil until cooking time is up.
- Remove from the oven and let sit for 5 minutes. Serve with your favorite crackers or fruit.
